Rumours have been circulating for some time now that Natalie Portman will return to the Star Wars franchise – but the actress just shut them down.

The 37-year-old, who played Padmé Amidala in the first three prequel installments, appeared on BuzzFeeds AM To DM, where she was asked about a potential return.

However, she responded: I guess its not true, because I dont know about it yet!

Fans have been hoping that Episode IX of the series would reference past installments, however the actress genuine shock appears to have shut those theories down.

Amidala was killed at the hands of Darth Vader in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, but that didnt stop the speculation, with fans believing she could be written back in somehow.

Nowadays, Natalie is busy promoting her new film Vox Lux – and accidentally ending up in a feud with Jessica Simpson.

The drama first started when Nat opened up dealing with mixed messages in the media, while growing up.

I remember being a teenager, and there was Jessica Simpson on the cover of a magazine saying, “Im a virgin” while wearing a bikini, and I was confused, she told USA Today.

Like, I dont know what this is trying to tell me as a woman, as a girl.

Jessica was unimpressed, and took to Instagram to share a message with the Black Swan actress.

In a comment under a recent Instagram, Natalie rushed to let the mum-of-two know she agreed with her words, and admitted there were some crossed wires that needed untangling.

She said: Thank you for your words. I completely agree with you that a woman should be allowed to dress however she likes and behave however she likes and not be judged.

Now all seems to be good between the pair. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Natalie said: I have only respect and good feelings for her.
