The Veronicas have addressed speculation that the recent incident in which they were removed from a flight was a publicity stunt, denying there is any link with their new reality TV show.

Twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso were allegedly offloaded from a domestic flight to Brisbane after the cabin crew reportedly escalated an issue over carry-on baggage.

Witnesses have given different accounts of what happened but the Untouched singers claim the confrontation centred on the placement of their carry-on baggage in the planes overhead compartments.

The Veronicas are now pursuing legal action with the airline Qantas over the incident.

In an interview on The Project the Australian performers denied that the plane incident was a publicity stunt ahead of their new reality TV show, Jess & Lisa: The Veronicas, which is set to premiere in November 2019.

This is a legal matter, not a publicity stunt, Jessica said.

The singers boarded another flight to Brisbane one hour later.

Jessica and Lisa said they began filming the incident on their own phones as soon as they [staff] threatened to call security after cabin crew refused to give them their names.

The two said they were not asked at any point to stop filming.

The pair were asked about how the footage was edited and if they would be prepared to release the unedited version to which they responded they would if it doesnt implicate with any legal standing.

In a comment posted to Instagram, the twins gave their version of events.

We actually already had our bag up in the overhead. The female flight attendant wanted Lisas bag spun around, the comment read.

Lisa asked the attendant if she could help assist her because she couldnt reach it (were only 5″1′). The attendant said it was against company policy. And a lovely man behind us helped instead.

Then right before take-off, the flight attendant bought over the manager and pointed us out. He proceeded to lecture us about company policy.
