Matsatsantsa ease into MTN8 semi-finals

Cape Town – SuperSport United cruised into the final four of the MTN8 after a comfortable 3-0 win over Wits at Bidvest Stadium on Sunday.

The visitors adopted a cautious start to the match and made it very difficult for the Clever Boys to break them down.

Despite enjoying the bulk of possession early on, the hosts were unable to engineer any decent goalmouth opportunities,

The best chance of the half fell to the visitors when Bradley Grobler was put through by Evans Rusike, but he didn't even test the goalkeeper in disappointingly firing wide.

The away side continued to grow in confidence after the break and began to really take hold of proceedings.

Onismor Bhasera nearly got incredibly lucky with a misdirected cross but Brandon Petersen just about managed to keep it out of his goal.

It took a bit of luck to finally break the deadlock, but no-one would argue it wasn't well-deserved when SuperSport United grabbed the lead in the 56th minute.

Grobler took a dip at goal and Petersen was wrong-footed by a deflection off a defender to loop into the goal.

It didn't take long for them to press their advantage either. Just eight minutes later it was 2-0.

Siyabonga Nhlapo delivered a pin-point cross into the box for Thamsanqa Gabuza to slot into the top corner giving the Wits keeper absolutely no chance.
