He may not have needed his umbrella but James Dedman has made a splash winning the St Joseph's P&F Rain, Rain Come again competition. The school fundraiser was a 100 club with a twist. For $20 a ticket, members of the community could pick the day which they thought would receive the highest rainfall recorded in Nyngan, between April and July. Mr Dedman selected June 2, which received just 6.5 millimetres of rainfall, making it the highest over the four months. The winning day was followed by 4.5 millimetres on July 8 supported by Virginia Woodlock, and 2 millimetres on July 7 held by Deb Tremain. "We'd happily swap it for rain," Mr Dedman said. READ ALSO: Mr Dedman said he chose June 2 not only his birthday, but a guaranteed day for rain. "I'm very excited … normally it's raining on that day, and it was this year as well, not at home on our property, but it was in town," he said. St Joseph's P&F committee members Jodie Stewart and Kate Yabsley thanked the community for their support of the fundraiser, and said the money raised would go toward school supplies and subsidising excursions for students at the end of the year. "It was a really successful fundraiser," Ms Yabsley said. "We would really like to thank the community, it was really well supported, especially when things are so tough and $20 is a lot to buy a ticket," Ms Stewart said. The pair also thanked their official rainfall recorders Ken Whaley, Don Lister, Jenny Holmes, Sarah Tremain, Jemeil Wallis and Brad Tool.
