EastEnders Louisa Lytton reveals her contract has been extended amid Ruby Allens rape case

EastEnders actress Louisa Lytton has revealed her contract has been extended to stick around on the soap as Ruby Allen.

The 29-year-old actress previously left EastEnders way back in December 2006, and recently returned in July this year after twelve years away from Albert Square.

Her character, Ruby, is now involved in storyline around the issue of rape and consent, which is set to receive a special episode on Thursday purely staged in the Queen Vic.

Ruby has been battling to get herself heard over her allegations against Ross and Matt, with Staceys husband Martin struggling to deal with her accusations against his friends. Stacey, meanwhile has been fighting Rubys corner and risking her marriage to do so.

But Ruby suddenly found herself the target of online trolls after Ross and Matt were charged, leaving her afraid to leave her home as thinly veiled threats were made. The story has been a sensitive one and has left some viewers questioning who was to blame.

It was unclear, however, whether Louisas return would be a temporary fixture – but now the actress has confirmed how shell be sticking around for a long while yet after her contract was extended.

Speaking on This Morning to Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes, Louisa said: Initially Ive come back for this storyline but now Ive been extended Im staying a while longer.

Whats great is because Ive been missing for so long, I could be a doctor, theres so many things I could be… I could have a lovechild somewhere that comes back, you just dont know.

Asked if there were discussions over future storylines happening, she added: I will be. Once that [rape] storyline is put to bed which, were going to play this out right so it will go on for quite a while.

Teasing the next episode on Thursday, Louisa said: The whole episode is based in the Vic with 20 cast members and everybody having a different opinion on consent and rape, and this case in particular, which is exactly whats happening at the moment.

Everybody has an opinion, there are so many myths and misconceptions so I think that its just highlighting whats going on.
