Downton Abbey movie gets dramatic first trailer as cast reunite

A first trailer for the Downton Abbey movie has arrived, inviting audiences far and wide to the motion picture event.

The hit ITV drama is receiving the big screen treatment which will follow the Crawley familys next chapter, reuniting the old cast including Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Michelle Dockery, Joanne Froggatt, Matthew Goode, Allen Leech, Elizabeth McGovern and Dame Maggie Smith.

So whats in the teaser trailer? Well, its more a promise of footage to come – showcasing the interiors of the beloved abbey as a mysterious figure on a motorcycle rides up the path.

It also teases how a full trailer will be arriving soon, so we can perhaps expect more footage to fill the absent former staple of a Downton Christmas special.

The movie will also feature new cast members Imelda Staunton, Geraldine James, Simon Jones, David Haig, Tuppence Middleton, Kate Phillips and Stephen Campbell Moore.

Speaking about the film when it was announced, Focus Features chairman Peter Kujawski said: Since the series ended, fans of Downton have long been waiting for the Crawley familys next chapter.

Were thrilled to join this incredible group of filmmakers, actors and craftspeople, led by Julian Fellowes and Gareth Neame, in bringing back the world of Downton to the big screen.

Show creator Julian Fellowes has written the screenplay and will serve as producer alongside Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge, while Michael Engler will direct having helmed episodes of the show.

The Downton Abbey movie is currently scheduled to release on 13 September 2019, with North America getting the flick on 20 September.
