Muses Matt Bellamy was brilliantly petty and trolled bandmates with Harry Potter lyric on new album
Muse frontman Matt Bellamy found the perfect way to wind-up his bandmates.
The Uprising singer realised that Chris Wolstenholme, Muse bassist, and drummer Dominic Howard, arent the biggest Harry Potter fans. So naturally, he thought hed troll them by adding a wizard-referencing lyric on their new album.
And it might be the one track they skip.
Muse have just released their eighth studio album, Simulation Theory, and the track Propaganda features Matt making reference to the villainous Lord Voldemort, played by Ralph Fiennes, and his evil followers.
The lyric goes: You ate my soul just like a death eater.
Matt, 40, told the Daily Star: Hardly anyone has noticed. Dom who hates that universe, doesnt know! I love it. I treated it as a way of trolling Chris and Dom a bit.

Matt continued: It was to recognise the generation who grew up with Harry Potter, and the fantastic and magical things that have been a bit lost these last few years. When we were kids in the 80s science fiction and fantasy was well represented.
So to incorporate references to Harry Potter seemed coherent with the themes of the album.
His bandmates probably dont think so.
Stimulation Theory is Muses first album in three years and the pressure is on to continue their incredible run of good luck with five consecutive number one albums since 2003. Their most recent chart-toppers in the UK include Drones, The Resistance and The 2nd Law.
Matt admits the band are in a bubble of nostalgia right now with them being older and family men – the musician shares seven-year-old son, Bingham, with his former fiancee Kate Hudson.
He explained: Maybe its because were entering our forties that we are looking back a bit. Watching your children grow up makes you look at your own childhood a bit and what interested us then. My oldest memories are from films of that era.

Muse will begin touring Stimulation Theory in December and have added extra dates to the jaunt in June 2019.
