Nicki Minaj has revealed there was almost a Drake collaboration on her newest album, Queen.

Unfortunately, the pair – both signed to Lil Waynes Young Money Entertainment – ran out of time and missed the deadline to complete it.

Speaking to The Whoollywood Shuffle on Eminems Shade 45 SiriusXM, the 35-year-old rapper said: Drake and I were working on something, but I didnt want to change the date of the album.

So about two days before I had to turn it in, he and I had been going back and forth. And then even up until – I would say, within 12 hours of having to turn in my album, we were going back and forth.

She elaborated: He had come to my studio, we found something that we really, really loved. But he was also going through that process of getting stuff right for his tour, and I had to understand that. As an artist, I always try to put myself in the artists shoes, and not try to be selfish.

Drake was preparing for his ongoing Aubrey & the Three Migos tour which launched last week, six weeks after he launched his new album, Scorpion.

The 31-year-old Candian rapper has a long documented past with Minaj and the two have teased rumours of romance, fall-outs, and even marriage at one point.

Some fans had theorised that Minaj and Drake were recording together after Minaj posted a playful video on Instagram on 2 August of the two artists joking around together.

Following Minajs interview, it seems these speculations could have been true.

Minajs fourth studio album which dropped last week features collaborations with Eminem, Ariana Grande and The Weeknd – to name a few.

However, Minaj was keen to assert to The Whoolywood Shuffle that she doesnt rely on collaborations for her success.

She said, I stand on my own two feet. I always keep on reminding myself, Onika, when you was putting out your mix tapes, you aint have no big name people to put on there.

Drake and Minaj have clocked in several collabs over the years, but one more wouldnt go amiss.
