K-pop boy band Highlight leader Doo-joon enlisted in the Korean military today after getting a draft notice just two days ago.

According to Around Us Entertainment, Highlights agency, Doo-joon entered the 27th Infantry Division in Hwacheon in Gangwon province in South Korea at around 1pm (Korea time).

He was accompanied by Highlight members, his family and company employees.

Doo-joon was surprised to receive the notice, which mandates him to serve as an active duty soldier.

This comes after he was unable to pass as a conscripted policeman, an alternative form of military service. Yoseob, another Highlight member, qualified as such.

Fans were also shocked upon learning that Doo-joon would be enlisting immediately, unlike other Korean celebrities who announced their military service weeks before they entered a military camp.

You must have been taken aback and shocked at the enlistment news of Yoon Doo-joon, who has continued non-stop since his debut in 2009. He was also very surprised at the abrupt enlistment notice, according to his agency.

The bigger problem was that Doo-joon is currently starring in the 16-episode tVN drama Lets Eat 3, which premiered in July.

He finished filming 12 of the 16 episodes but he wont be able to shoot the remaining episodes. With his enlistment, tvN decided to cut short the drama with the 14th and final episode airing on 28 August.

We revised the script and are discussing the replacement of the program next month, according to a tvN staff.

In a handwritten letter posted on the agencys website, Doo-joon told fans, You were surprised right? I was surprised, too. Though not as much as you guys. In order to finally fulfill my mandatory military duty at this old age, I will have to suddenly leave.

I wanted to go earlier. Because I can finally take some pressure off that burden though, Im happy.

The saddest part that really troubles my mind is the fact that Ill have to leave without saying a proper goodbye to you. My heart hurts a lot, he added.

On his Instagram, he posted photos of himself with a new haircut together with other Highlight members and his mother.
