Liam Payne recently caused a bit of a furore when he referred to Brazilian singer Anitta as hot.
In chatting about meeting the singer at the MTV Awards, he said: I was hanging out with Anitta, shes really cool as well, he recalled. Shes amazing. Shes in London at the moment, I think, which is funny because Im going to Brazil so were like swapping.
Were going to swap lives but Im not anywhere near as hot as she is, so…
Immediately the phrase the wrath of Cheryl was bandied about, and fears for Anitta getting caught in a death stare were very real.
But actually it turns out its all good, Liam was just being friendly – although she seemed less clued up about Cheryl.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk, Anitta told us: I love Liam Payne! But in a friend way. He has a girlfriend, no? And I have a husband!
So of course it was a friendly talk and I know his friend J Balvin, hes a good brother of mine.

Anitta, whos set to play her first ever London gig on 28 June and is dubbed one of the most influential women in Brazil, added that shes been lucky enough to meet the whole of 1D as shes known Liam for a while: Ive met Liam before when he was in One Direction, hes really nice!
The whole group were there for the show because it was a party. It was years ago. And then we met again in Spain because he was doing some shows there. And then I met him again, he was really nice and really friendly.
The singer added that she wouldnt be meeting up with her pal Liam during her trip to the UK next week as shes just too busy to fit him in.
I have only two days in London because Im coming from Paris and then back to Brazil, she said. So I dont have so much time for hangs but Id love to. But also people are asking me for so many things for work, there are so many people to see and meet. Im working all the time. Ill have to come back.
Anitta has got plenty of people to come back and see, as the singer has also been in the studio with Rita Ora, and trying to get something in the pipeline with Dua Lipa.
Ive been with Rita Ora in the studio doing a song of hers. Shes amazing. Shes a sweetheart, she said. She is humble and generous, she has a good vibe. For me it was a great opportunity because Ive always listened to her music. I admire her a lot. I like her style and everything else. For sure, when I met here I was interested to see what shed be like and she was so so cool.

Anitta also confessed to the fact shes trying to get Dua Lipa to agree to a collaboration.
I would love to sing with Drake, but this is not a reality, she laughed. I hope it becomes one! I dont know about the future of my songs, I think Ill sing alone on the next one. But Id love to do Dua Lipa too, weve been talking about it.
Our managers have been talking, theyve been talking for some time. I love her.
We might be in for a wait though as she added: Theres nothing been approved and nothing going on yet, but it would be amazing. Shes something I really admire and would love to do something with her.
