Stormzy has hit out at the haters as he defended his headlinging slot at Junes Glastonbury festival.

The grime artist was announced alongside The Killers and The Cure (a combination of the two names makes for a great band, just saying) as one of the three main headliners to take to the Pyramid stage at the iconic festival, however haters doubted his right to be there.

The rapper was never going to take such a critique lying down though and has promised an iconic performance when he lands in front of crowds.

The 25-year-old will close the Pyramid stage on the Friday night of the festival, the first headliner to do so at the 2019 event, and he wants the doubters to know they wont be disappointed.

He told BBC Radio 1Xtra: If you think I got booked for Glastonbury headline to come there and not give you an iconic headline performance, youve gone crazy.

Cant fault the guy for his honesty.

It seemed fans of the iconic festival – who have had to wait two years for another one, following 2018s fallow year – werent too keen on Stormzy taking such an important slot off the back of the fact hes only released one studio album.

But the chart-topping rapper has defended his credentials, saying hes a serious musician.

There were so many doubters being like, “Oh he hasnt got no number one song” or, “Oh hes got one album out, hes not ready”, he added. Im there because Im a serious musician.

The incredible milestone has certainly come very early in Stormzys career with the rapper releasing his debut album, Gang Signs & Prayer, in February 2017.

GSAP earned critical-acclaim and went straight in at number one on the UK charts.

Back in November it was confirmed he would be taking the slot, as the first headliner announced to whet the whistle of punters.

Stormzy – clearly excited – shared an image on his Instagram page announcing the news, as he wrote: THE HEADLINE ACT – GLASTONBURY 2019, well lets be f*cking having ya then.

It comes as the rapper revealed he is currently working on a new album.

Asked about his future plans, he explained: The best way to describe my album is that I dont want no filler songs but Im going to go an even further step and say I dont want a filler lyric.

I dont want me to be saying anything thats wasted, anything thats just there because it rhymes. Literally Read More – Source
