Did you know cats not only make great companions, but they also hold some very interesting records.
According to the Guinness World Records, the worlds wealthiest cat is named Blackie.
When millionaire antique dealer Ben Rea died in May 1988, he bequeathed his £7-million ($12.5-million) fortune to Blackie, the last surviving of the 15 cats he shared his mansion with.
The record for the longest whisker on a cat measured 19 centimetres (7.5 inches) and belongs to Missi, a Maine coon who lives with her owner, Kaija Kyllönen. The whiskers were measured in Iisvesi, Finland on 22 December 2005.
According to Pet Insurance Australias Nadia Crighton, today is the “the purrfect excuse to show your cat some extra love…”
“Our cats offer us a whole lot of unconditional love, so this days is all about making sure we appreciate our feline friends,” Nadia said.
Pet Insurance Australia also suggests considering a vet check up on this special day.
“Keeping our cats healthy, and being proactive with their veterinary care is important,” Nadia said.
“Being the masters at masking pain, having your cat checked for dental health, arthritis and any other problems such as coat condition is a great way to show how much you love them.”
Other ways to show your cat how much you love them include:
– A good play session.
– A new pounce toy.
– A special treat.
– Grooming session.
– Extra five-minute morning snuggle.
