PREVIEW: Mamelodi Sundowns v Cape Town City

Cape Town – Mamelodi Sundowns are out to try and overturn a 0-1 first leg deficit when they host Cape Town City in a second leg MTN8 semi-final match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.

It has not been a great couple of weeks for Sundowns, who were knocked out of the CAF Champions League, could only manage a 0-0 league draw with Highlands Park, and lost to City in the cup last weekend.

Masandawana did however have plenty of chances to score against the Citizens in Cape Town, and still have a good opportunity to turn the tie around on their home patch.

Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, who saw his team drawing 0-0 with Horoya on Tuesday to exit the Champions League, is however still fairly upbeat.

"Obviously there are a lot of positives. The mentality is good. The attitude is good," he said.

"The one thing that I can say is that we will give City the attack we gave Horoya, we will go at them.

"When you don't have goals, it's normal in a team. The challenge is when you don't create the chances to score. Then you know you have a problem.

"So we don't have a problem to create the goals. The challenge is that we aren't converting, and you saw that against Horoya."

Benni MvcCarthy's Citizens meanwhile come into Sunday's match (3pm kick off) having managed a 2-2 midweek league draw away at Free State Stars.

That came at a cost however after Roland Putsche was hurt in a nasty challenge by Paulus Masehe, and the Austrian is may miss the match against the Brazilians, although the extent of his injury has not been revealed.

City winger Riyaad Norodien is expected back after missing the last two games through injury.

Masandawana defender Ricardo Nascimento will miss the match through suspension after his red card in the first leg.
