Singer Anitta says K-pop and Latino music is uniting the world as she reveals collabs with Rita Ora and Dua Lipa
Singer Anitta is a mega star back home in Brazil, but shes only just cracking the UK scene.
And thats because now is the time for latino music as music in other languages seems to finally be fully cracking its way through.
With Despacito absolutely smashing it last year, and K-Pop having a massive surge in popularity, Anitta has picked her time well to try and break into British music.
Having collaborated with J Balvin, who recently worked with Liam Payne, and with work lined up with Rita Ora and Dua Lipa shes doing something right.
And she hails music in other languages as unifying the world in teaching about other cultures.
Anitta, who sings in Brazilian, Spanish and English, told Metro.co.uk: One year ago I started with Spanish, because thats the way the music is going now.
I think its a question of time, over time Ill get more and more audience from other speakers.

Asked whether Latino music and K-Pop can go head to head, she said: I think now for the Latin world is a big time.
Everybody is going big, the artists, the songs, people are more interested in the rhythm, the melody.
She added that for music lovers to be listening to other languages it brings them together in learning about other cultures around them.
I think its good opportunity too for people to learn another language. People are getting more used to another language, thats how I learned English and Spanish, she said. I listened to other singers and tried to sing with them. Of course I studied it and I took classes, but music helps me a lot.
So I think its a good moment for people getting closer, the countries, the language. Its bringing everybody together.
The singer added that music videos are a way of artists teaching their listeners about their own cultures.
Its a good way to learn other peoples cultures, Anitta said. You dont notice you are learning about they are used to, about the way they dress when you see the videos, I think its a kind of learning about other cultures and people.
Anitta – who downplayed Liam Payne calling her hot, possibly to avoid the wrath of Cheryl – added that while she fancies doing a collab with Drake, she does have stuff in the pipeline with Rita Ora and Dua Lipa, thus seeding her music firmly in the UK market.

Ive been with Rita Ora in the studio doing a song of hers. Shes amazing. Shes a sweetheart, she said.
She is humble and generous, she has a good vibe. For me it was a great opportunity because Ive always listened to her music. I admire her a lot. I like her style and everything else. For sure, when I met here I was interested to see what shed be like and she was so so cool.
Anitta also confessed to the fact shes trying to get Dua Lipa to agree to a collaboration.
I would love to sing with Drake, but this is not a reality, she laughed. I hope it becomes one! I dont know about the future of my songs, I think Ill sing alone on the next one. But Id love to do Dua Lipa too, weve been talking about it.
Our managers have been talking, theyve been talking for some time. I love her.
We might be in for a wait though as she added: Theres nothing been approved and nothing going on yet, but it would be amazing. Shes something I really admire and would love to do something with her.
Anitta plays the Royal Albert Hall on 28 June.
