Debbie Harry says the time has come for women in music, and we so hope shes right.

The 74-year-old recently threw her support behind Halsey when appearing in the girl power music video, Nightmare.

And it seems she was more than happy to get on board with the 24-year-olds project, as she gushed over the Colours hitmaker when chatting to Metro.co.uk.

Fresh from collecting her Outstanding Contribution to Music accolade, at the AIM Awards in London, on Tuesday night, Blondie spoke about her cameo and gave her take on women in the industry.

She told us: I think its amazing, and I love Halsey I mean I introduced her at Billboard Women In Music Awards, so for her to invite me to be in the video is a compliment.

The girls are doing a really good job, and so many of the songs that come out are great! Any of the songs written by them with other musicians I especially like.

The Call Me songstress went on: I feel like time has come [for women], and its long overdue when you come right down to it.

Just next month the 70s icon will be releasing her very first memoir Face It, and recently teased what fans can expect from the book.

When we asked if there would be any new revelations, the Tide Is High singer smiled: Perhaps.

She continued: I didnt rake anyone over the coals, you know? I tried to be sort of open minded and having an understanding of what its like to work in the business and also to work in an ensemble situation.

It can be very complicated but interesting and surprising. You get some surprising results.

But despite her book not even hitting the shelves yet, it seems the punk rocker already has her eyes set on a second memoir.

Going back to the question, she said: So I dont know, I suppose there are a few revelations in there, but Im looking forward to writing a real take out the screws book, you know?
