United’s Fernandes interest has been ‘exaggerated’

Cape Town – Manchester United's interest in Sporting CP midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been 'exaggerated in Portugal', according to reports in England.

Fernandes broke down in tears at the end of Sporting's 2-1 friendly defeat to Valencia on Sunday and may outlets have described it as a 'hint' he could be on the way to the Red Devils.

A report in A Bola claims that United are 'preparing' an offer of €72 million (£64.9 million) with a further €5 million (£4.5 million) in add-ons, as well as a five-year contract worth €30 million (£27 million).

It is also said that Sporting will try and delay negotiations to the extent that Fernandes does not move until after the Portuguese Super Cup final against Benfica on August 4.

Correio da Manhã also had an update saying that the player's agent was 'in England intensifying negotiations' over the weekend, and now says the aforementioned friendly 'can mark the farewell' of Fernandes.
