Who will Richard Madden play in The Eternals and could he still be new James Bond?

Richard Madden was confirmed as part of the cast for The Eternals when it is released next year.

The line-up for the new Marvel movie was revealed at Comic-Con in San Diego by Head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige.

Madden is set to star alongside Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek in what is set to be a prequel to the Avengers.

The Eternals are a group of fictional species of humanity and they were originally created to defend the earth, and they find themselves in a battle against The Deviants.

The first comic-book in the series was published in 1976, with volume four concluding in March 2009.

Who will Richard Madden play in The Eternals?

Richard Madden is set to play Ikaris in the Marvel movie, and he is set to be one of the central characters along with Sersi who will be played by Angelina Jolie.

In the comics Ikaris was born 20,000 years earlier in Syberia as the son of two other Eternals.

He is part of a long war against the Deviants, and his abilities involve various superhuman powers including strength, speed, stamina and agility.

In the comics he also has regenerative healing, flight, psionic powers and teleportation.

Ikaris is considered to be one of the stronger of the Eternals and he possesses the blue flame which can enable people to combine for a collective cosmic energy.

The announcement of his involvement in the film was met with pride by his friend and Rocketman co-star Taron Egerton.

Could Richard Madden be the next James Bond?

Richard Madden is the current favourite to be the next James Bond after Daniel Craig, according to odds from Coral.

The Scottish actor is currently 5/2 to take over the role, putting him ahead of Tom Hiddleston at 4/1 and Idris Elba who is 5/1.
