Courteney Coxs boyfriend Johnny Mcdaid will undergo immediate surgery after neurosurgeons discovered a serious problem with his neck.

The announcement was made by Johnnys Snow Patrol bandmates as the musicians were forced to pull out of this years TRNSMT Festival on Sunday 14 July.

In a statement, the band shared their apologies to fans and revealed their concerns for Johnnys health.

We are sorry to have to announce the cancelation of more shows (sic), the statement read.

Our dear brother, piano and guitar player Johnny Mcdaid has a serious problem with his neck and after consulting with some top neurosurgeons they are all in agreement that the only course of action is immediate surgery.

We are all of course worried about our brother Johnny. He is a force of nature and a giant light in our lives on stage and off and we of course will give him all the time and support he needs to recover.

Johnny has been incredible in the wake of this news and has remained calm at a time when a lot of people might freak out.

]The band went on to reveal they would also cancel the forthcoming shows we are billed to play in Europe this summer up to Latitude on the 20th of July to give them both time to recover.

Courtney and Johnny began dating in 2013 and later became engaged.

But they called it off in 2015 and the Friends actress admitted in January that their relationship was better once they took the pressure off.

Opening up about their romance to Ellen DeGeneres, the actress stated: Hes not my fiance. We broke off our engagement, and he moved to England, then we got back together, and its actually better than it was before.

The TV star said: Everythings better. Not because hes in London — although I think the distance after that breakup, we were apart for six months, that really showed us a lot. Its just better.

As for the upcoming shows: to replace Johnny it would take at least two people and with Nathan still out with nerve damage (he is slowly on the mend) so he is also still unable to play guitar we feel its just not appropriate to continue with shows at this stage. It isnt just their guitars and pianos that would be missed. Their backing vocals are essential to our sound and their energy and spirits are colossal and are irreplaceable forces.
