Mark Hamill has shared an insight into his much anticipated role in the upcoming Star Wars IX: The Rise Of Skywalker.

Hamills return particularly has left some wondering how Luke Skywalker could come back following events in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which (spoiler alert) saw the Jedi masters body disappear after battling Kylo Ren using a projection of himself.

In what capacity he would return was of hot rumour, however now the actor has shed some light on how well see him don those robes once more.

Yes, thats right, Luke is going to return as a force ghost.

YES, indeed!

When the actor was asked whether this film will mark his final in the Star Wars saga, the Childs Play star told AP Entertainment: I sure hope so. I had closure in the last one [The Last Jedi].

He added: The fact that Im involved in any capacity is only because of that peculiar aspect of the Star Wars mythology in that, as a Jedi, youre allowed to come back and make a curtain call as a force ghost.

Its not entirely surprising to any Star Wars nut who has been following the updates with salivating intrigue.

The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson said he wouldnt be all that surprised if the man behind the next outing, JJ Abrams, chose to bring Luke back as a hallowed force ghost.

I dont know where the next movie is going to go. JJ and Chris Terrio are writing it right now, he said.

But it seemed like the potential of Luke crossing into a new realm, that offers exciting possibilities for the role he plays in the coming chapter. No ones ever really gone. Again, Im not writing the script, so I dont know. But as a fan, I would hope.
