As Remembrance Day approaches the Imperial War Museum have been producing a variety of artworks.
One of those is They Shall Not Grow Old, which uses WWI footage from the museum archive, and is directed by Peter Jackson.
In a painstaking but worthwhile process, colour was added to videos, and imperfections were removed.
Lip readers even studied each from for hours trying to decipher speech in silent videos.
Actors were then used as the soldiers voices, making it feel like youre in the trenches with them.
Unlike previous WWI documentaries, this one has no narrators or historians in the background telling the stories – it solely focuses on the lives and personalities of those involved.
Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson said: Its not the story of the war, said Jackson. Its the story of the human experience of fighting in the war.
The filmed debuted at the BFI Film Festival last night, but will be showing in cinemas and schools across the country.

This screening format will also include a Q&A with Jackson and film critic Mark Kermode.
You can view the dates for the cinema showings here, and most seem to be this weekend.
It will then be broadcast on BBC One.
At present, we know this will be at some point in November, and the BBC version will have an exclusive documentary alongside it on the the making of the film.
