Premier League clubs targeting Socceroos star Tom Rogic

A pivotal role in an eighth successive league title for Celtic could be one of Tom Rogic's final contributions to the Glasgow giants before leaping to the English Premier League.

Two clubs are looking to sign the Socceroos playmaker, potentially playing a record fee for an Australian player.

A month after making his come back from a knee injury, the attacking midfielder provided an assist in the 3-0 romp over Aberdeen over the weekend that secured the Scottish Premier League title for Celtic. A win over Hearts in the Scottish Cup later this month could seal an incredible treble of domestic trebles for Rogic in what looms as a possible parting gift to the club he has called home for the past six years.

A decorated stint with Celtic has won him plenty of admirers over the years though the resolve of the Scottish champions to keep Rogic is set to face its greatest test in the coming months with sources suggesting Southampton and Leicester City are set to make offers for the 26-year-old in the European summer.

The Saints have been closely monitoring his progress for the past two seasons and are weighing up an offer that would continue their close business relationship with Celtic. Southampton have strong ties with the Scottish champions having previously purchased midfielder Victor Wanyama from Celtic in 2013 and defender Virgil van Dijk two years later before acquiring Stuart Armstrong at the start of this season.
