The Lion Kings new trailer offered up some fresh treats for Disney fans, including Chiwetel Ejiofors debut as the villainous Scar. However, some arent convinced the British actor is menacing enough to play the iconic baddie.

Disney dropped the new teaser on Wednesday, featuring Scar, Mufasa and Simba, as well as a brief appearance from comedy duo Timon and Pumbaa.

Scar and his rivalry with father and son, Mufasa and Simba, features prominently giving Chiwetel his first chance to shine in the coveted role.

His voiceover says: Lifes not fair, is it, my little friend? While some are born to feast – others spend their lives in the dark begging for scraps.

He adds ominously during the famous stampede: Run away Simba, and never return.

Ooh, the chills.

But some Disney fans feel Chiwetels scare factor isnt on-par with Jeremy Irons, who portrayed the iconic character in the 1994 animated original.

Reacting to Scars new voice, one tweeted: The Lion King is one of my favorite movies of all time. A masterpice. Beautiful in every aspect. The live versions looks horrific and disturbing. And how can you replace the original Scar voice? Blasphemy. Makes me mad.

Comparing the two actors, another chimed in: No disrespect to Chiwetel Ejiofor but Jeremy Irons had the best Scar voice in #TheLionKing.

Another said: Awesome looking trailer for Lion King but that voice for Scar is just miles off! Nowhere near the menacing sounds of Jeremy Irons, sorry Chiwetel Ejiofor, not good enough.

Sharing a similar sentiment, another critiqued: I need Scars voice to be scarier. He sounds educated lol.

Well reserve our judgement until the full version is out.
