Mum almost killed by breast implants recovers after having them removed

A mum-of-two says her breast implants almost killed her and that she was back to full health within 24 hours of having them removed.

Bodybuilder Gabrielle Case suffered from chronic headaches, loss of appetite, ovarian cysts, numb feet, spasms and hair loss after enlarging her breasts to a D-cup from an A.

She racked up more than $50,000 (£38,000) on medical bills in trying to get a diagnosis before a friend suggested her illness could be connected to her implants.

When she first noticed memory loss and cystic acne, Gabrielle put it down to stress but became concerned when dozens of more serious symptoms began appearing over the next year and half. She got them removed just to tick it off the list of possibilities but found she was back to full health in just 24 hours.

The athlete believes she suffered from breast implant illness (BII) which caused her body to reject the implants as foreign bodies and attack itself.

Gabrielle, 29, decided to get saline implants fitted in May 2015 after breastfeeding her two children shrank her cleavage from a C-cup to an A.

She initially brushed off memory loss and cystic acne as being down to stress but became worried when more serious symptoms began emerging over the next year and a half.

Her partner Cameron Ray, 23, had to take her children to school as she would sleep through all her alarms and was left almost unable to do her job.
