Rita Wilson wanted husband Tom Hanks to be super sad if she died from breast cancer
Rita Wilson has looked back on the traumatic experience of being diagnosed with breast cancer, revealing that she asked her husband Tom Hanks to be super sad for a very long time if anything happened as a result of her having cancer.
Actress, singer and producer Wilson, who has starred in such films as Sleepless in Seattle and Jingle All the Way, was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2015, and underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.

I am recovering and most importantly, expected to make a full recovery, she said in a statement released at the time. Why? Because I caught this early, have excellent doctors and because I got a second opinion.
Writing on Instagram this week, Wilson recalled the strong emotions she felt four years ago after being told that she had breast cancer.
I had so many different thoughts. Youre scared, anxious, you think about your own mortality, she explained, before disclosing that she had a serious conversation with Hanks about their next steps.
So I had a serious discussion with my husband that if anything happens, I wanted him to be super sad for a very long time.
And Id also like a party, a celebration.
Its that final point which inspired Wilson to write the song Throw Me A Party, which will feature on her new solo album Halfway to Home, which is out tomorrow (29 March).
A heartwarming message indeed.
