Roos ‘are not going to let that performance define our year’: Ziebell

After copping an 82-point pasting from Fremantle on Sunday, North Melbourne captain Jack Ziebell is confident of a quick turnaround of form.

The Kangaroos were ambushed by the Dockers at Optus Stadium, being shown up in nearly all aspects of the contest.

The loss was the biggest of the opening round; their worst ever to the Dockers and the greatest losing margin since their 115-point smashing at the hands of Hawthorn in Round 10 of the 2012 season.

But Ziebell said the Kangaroos will move on quickly from the loss, and that the round 2 clash against Brisbane can't come quick enough.

"It is a long year and we are not going to let that performance define our year," Ziebell said.

"We have full belief in our list, our team and our club, and if you look over history, we haven't let big losses define us.

"And our boys, sitting and looking at them after that game, they are annoyed with that and not satisfied at all.

"We are really looking forward to seven days' time and trying to turn things around.

"It is a long pre-season. The build-up to round 1 is huge, but round 2 is worth just as many points as round 1.

"You can't dwell on your wins or losses too long and for us, Brisbane Lions in seven days can't come quick enough."

Last season, the Kangaroos bounced back after their three worst losses, to record wins in their next games.

Their biggest defeat was to Collingwood, by 66 points Round 18. The following week they beat eventual premiers, West Coast, by 40 points at Blundstone Arena.

Earlier in the season, they lost to Melbourne by 37 points in Round 3 and then beat Carlton by 86 the following week. And going iRead More
