National Television Awards 2019: EastEnders and Emmerdale lead the way in soaps shortlist
Its awards season and time for the palms of TV executives across the UK to get sweatier than the after parties as they hope to take home the glory. As the National Television Awards releases its final shortlist, it reveals a hotly fought contest between the soaps – particularly EastEnders and Emmerdale who have netted the most nods.
Its been a major year in the world of soap with EastEnders knife crime story, Chas Dingles harrowing baby loss in Emmerdale, Coronation Street airing David Platts rape storyline and Hollyoaks focusing on the footballer abuse storyline.
With issue led and hugely sensitive plotlines taking centre stage in all of the soaps, fans are being presented with one of the most difficult decisions yet.
Emmerdale went home with the Serial Drama glory last year but could one of the other three topple them in 2019? Theyve all pulled out every stop in their arsenal but now its down to the viewers to make the final decision.
