EastEnders spoilers: Is Alfie Moon dead as Hayley Slater commits Christmas murder?

(Picture: BBC)

Christmas Day has ended in the traditional way in EastEnders – someone has been left for dead. But will Alfie Moon die now that he has been shoved down the stairs by Hayley Slater – and will the women who witnessed the potential murder help her cover up the crime?

Alfie had been well and truly caught out after Hayley tried to gift him some of Cherrys hair as she made to leave Walford for good with their baby. But as Kat came across the present, the pieces all slotted together and Alfies many attempts to cover up the truth failed.

Despite trying to lie to Kats face even after being exposed, Alfie was unable to wriggle his way out of it this time and a hysterical Kat trashed the front room and then made a drunken scene over at the Queen Vic as she found herself back where she started – heartbroken, betrayed and with no-one to trust.

When she eventually returned for a showdown with Alfie, he tried to once again use his charm to talk Kat round and also tried to place blame at Hayleys door. As he realised his hold on the family life he wanted was slipping, Alfie turned aggressive and said some despicable things to Kat relating to her abuse at the hands of Harry and how that has affected her since.

As things turned physical, Hayley and Stacey intervened and Alfie turned on them too, before announcing that he was sick of all of the Slater women and he was out.

But things heated up even further and a struggle saw Hayley snap and push Alfie hard, sending him tumbling down the stairs where he hit his head on a pile of logs at the bottom. He was left motionless, with the three women certain they were looking at a dead body.

Has Hayley killed Alfie? And what will the Slaters do now?
