Cultural infusion at end of year dance workshop | Photos

The cultural learning program continued at Margaret River Senior High School earlier this month, when Year 7 Asian Languages students took part in an end of year Tari Tempurung workshop. The sixty minute Tari Tempurung – or coconut dance – is a traditional dance from West Sumatra. Presenter Rose Ngatikao from Indonesian Dance Studio Perth travelled to the region to conduct the fun cultural lesson. Asian Languages teacher Angela McCoy said the workshop provided students with hands on experiences of culture and creativity. “These experiences are designed to increase intercultural awareness that encourage young people to be healthy, active and culturally aware community members,” she said.
