Meet the cast of Aladdin – Will Smith and Naomi Scott among the stars bringing the Disney classic to life
The live-action remake of Aladdin is well and truly underway with the much-anticipated film scheduled to hit screens in spring.
Almost three decades after the release of the beloved Disney classic, its being brought to life by Guy Ritchie, and is expected to follow the original animation quite closely.
Many of the cast members will be new to fans so heres what you need to know about the array of stars from both the big and small screen.
Mena Massoud (Aladdin)
Age: 27
Nationality: Canadian. Mena was born in Cairo, Egypt, and raised in Ontario, Canada.
Best known for: Aladdin is probably Menas biggest role to date however he broke into the industry starring in one episode of drama series Nikita in 2011.
The actor has appeared in a handful of Canadian series while recently landing a role in Amazons Tom Clancys Jack Ryan, alongside John Krasinski.
Naomi Scott (Jasmine)

Age: 25
Nationality: British. Naomi was born in Hounslow, London, to a Ugandan-born mother of Gujarati descent, and an English father.
She grew up in London and Essex, where she attended Davenant Foundation School in Loughton.
Best known for: While relatively new on the scene, Naomi is already somewhat of a familiar face thanks to her appearance in the 2017 Power Rangers film, in which she played Kimberly Hary, aka the Pink Ranger.
Shes also starred in The 33 and The Martian – although her scenes were cut from the latter – and a number of TV roles, including Lewis, Terra Nova and Life Bites.
And its only up from here as Naomi is set to feature in the remake of Charlies Angels
Marwan Kenzari (Jafar)
Age: 35
Nationality: Dutch. Marwan was born in The Hague to Tunisian parents. He speaks an impressive four language; English, Dutch, Arabic and French.
Best known for: The actor has starred in a number of award-winning Dutch TV series and films, notably 2013s crime drama Wolf, in which he received critical acclaim.
Marwan made his international debut in Collide alongside Anthony Hopkins, and Ben-Hur with Morgan Freeman, in 2016.
He also appeared in 2017s remake of The Mummy opposite Tom Cruise, and Murder On The Orient Express, including Johnny Depp.
Navid Negahban (Sultan)
Age: 50
Nationality: Iranian. Navid spent some early adult years in Germany before moving to the US. He too, is multilingual, fluent in English, German and Farsi.
Best known for: Most will recognise the actor from his role in the award-winning series Homeland, in which he played al-Qaeda leader Abu Nazir, and Clint Eastwoods blockbuster American Sniper.

Hes appeared in TV series 24, MIstresses, the CSI franchise, Law & Order and The West Wing.
Marwan also played supporting roles in 2009s Brothers with Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman and 2015s Brain On Fire with Chloe Grace Moretz.
Will Smith (Genie)
Age: 50
Nationality: American.
Best known for: The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, Bad Boys, Men In Black, The Pursuit of Happyness, Hitch, Suicide Squad…
Enough said. The list is endless.
