The Incredibles had to be rewritten after Bob was accused of bullying his wife Helen in a fight scene.

Animator Brad Bird revealed how Pixar told him to change up the scene when it appeared the much loved hero was becoming more dominant than his other half.

Throughout the first movie, writers worked hard on making the couple have an equal relationship – with basically both of them wearing the pants.

But in one scene, it seemed Helen had lost her authority and so a rewrite had to take place.

We say a rewrite, Brad merely added in a little extra scene where he made Helen grow as tall as Bob and shout: Its not about you.

Chatting to The Hollywood Reporter, the animator explained: All I did was make her stretch.

Because then visually, youre seeing that shes his match, that shes not intimidated by him, shes just as tough as he is.

He added: And that kind of is a core moment — thats the character. And thats probably one of a thousand reasons why he loves her.

In the scene the pair set off arguing after Bob returns home late.

Helen says: You said youd be back by 11, but Bob disputes this and claims he actually said hed be back later.

The pair have it out and their sons graduation gets brought up in their spat.

When Bob explains why he doesnt want to attend the ceremony, Helen gets angry and shouts Its not about you, growing taller with every word.

She then shrinks again when someone enters the room.

Samuel L Jackson spoke out about the film when the sequel hit the big screens earlier this year.

He told Entertainment Weekly: Fourteen years later, to evolve a story that gives everyone in whatever age group a chance to participate in a very real and honest kind of way.
