No surprises as BTS and EXO rank as most popular K-pop stars on Tumblr annual list

BTS and EXO members have reigned supreme on Tumblrs annual list of the micro-blogging sites most popular K-pop stars.

Are we surprised? Not really.

All seven members of BTS landed spots in the top 10, while three members of EXO, Baekhyun, Chanyeol and Kai, rounded out the top tier.

The list has been put together for another year that saw the site rank individual K-pop stars based on their engagements with original posts, reblogs, likes and searches. And, as it appeared, its a competitive world.

So with BTS throwing out some albums, some solo mixtapes, a sell-out world tour, a documentary and Burn The Stage, as well as some epic collaborations, we really didnt doubt theyd all be up the top of the list when it comes to popularity. Just like last year.

As well as the seven-piece and EXO, other groups that found some massive mentions in the list included NCT, Stray Kids, Monsta X, and GOT7, which each garnered more than a single members inclusion in the top 50 list.

BTS, going that one step further, though, was the only group to have each of its members on the list, let alone in the top 10. Which is a brilliant accolade for the group that enjoys a loyal fandom in the form of ARMYs.

If you wondered how each of the solo members ranked themselves, there was movement between Jungkook and Jimin who swapped places this year, with BTS maknae taking the top spot on the 2018 list and Jimin moving into second spot after previously coming first last year.

If you wanted a figure of how large their reach was, their combined tags made up over 27 per cent of all K-pop stars engagement this year, which is massive.

Interestingly the groups leader, RM, was the lowest-ranking of the group, coming in at seventh (still, such a massive congratulations for landing so high on the list), while J-Hope was sixth, Jin was fifth, Suga in fourth spot, and V third behind Jimin.
