Man City flex muscles, hammer West Ham

Cape Town – West Ham United were outclassed by Manchester City on Saturday at the London Stadium as they lost 4-0 to the reigning Premier League champions.

City once again completely controlled possession and soon took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute lead through David Silva. Kyle Walker linked up with Raheem Sterling and his deflected cross found Silva who shot past Lukasz Fabianski.

Eight minutes later it was 2-0 as the man who created the first goal got his name on the score-sheet. Leroy Sane raced past Pablo Zabaleta before his cross found Sterling for an easy tap-in.

In the 34th minute Sane got the third as he collected Sane's delivery into the area, before he showed composure to convert with precision.

After the break, Silva nearly added a second though the Hammers started to grow into the contest in front of the home supporters.

Javier Hernandez played a pass into the path of the onrushing Michail Antonio and his strike beat goalkeeper Ederson but crashed into the post and away for a goal kick.

After the hour mark, Fabianski was once again in the thick of the action as he saved Ilkay Gundogan's low strike before gathering up the rebound at the second attempt.

United continued to press forward for a goal and Fabian Balbuena went close as his header from Aaron Cresswell's cross went just a yard wide.

City were more subdued in the second stanza with the three points seemingly in the bag. However, at the death, Sane completed the rout in the English capital as he completed his brace for the Citizens.
