Hollyoaks newbie Laurie Shelby might just be the villages newest bad boy.
Kyle Pryor has joined the soap as teacher Laurie, husband of the feisty Sinead OConnor, and the actor has teased well be seeing a very dark side from the newest resident.
Despite the fact that Liam Donovan is the villages resident bad boy, the place is seemingly big enough for another villain in the shape of Laurie.
Kyle revealed his characters dark side in hinting that actor Jude Monk McGowan has been giving him tips on how to play the bad guy.
I share a flat with Jude Monk McGowan [Liam], and he plays a villain on the show, Kyle divulged. So weve been exchanging a few ideas about that.
Kyle comes from Home And Away where he played the kind-hearted doctor Nate, who didnt have a bad bone in his body.
Asked if H&A fans will be shocked by his characters behaviour in contrast to Dr Nate, he told Inside Soap: I hope so. If Im doing my job right, then they definitely will be.
This is really playing against type for me, but I think these kind of characters are the most fun to get into. You can stretch the boundaries a bit further. And also its exciting to be playing someone who causes lots of drama.
There are many layers to our new pal Laurie, it would seem, as Kyle revealed hes got a dark past that is set to follow him to Hollyoaks.
Theres definitely a few skeletons in Lauries closet, thats for sure. Hes moving to Hollyoaks as a way to escape his past, get away from some negative stuff and start afresh, he said.
Speaking of the fact that Laurie is seen seeking legal advice, he said: I wont say exactly what the situation is, but its someone from his past – a previous school he worked at. Basically, people wont know whether this accusation is fact or fiction. Laurie speaks to Sami about what his options are, because he doesnt want this to follow him to the village.
