Busselton homicide: 31 year old man discovered by carer

The identify of the victim of a suspected homicide in Carter Street, West Busselton on Tuesday October 30 is expected to be released on Wednesday, as police continue to search for a suspect.

Detective Inspector Christopher Taylor from the Major Crime Division today addressed media near the crime scene, where investigators are expected to remain until the end of the week.

The 31 year old victim was found in his residence by a carer making a visit to the property, where the deceased is believed to have resided alone.

Det. Inspector Taylor would not elaborate on circumstances surrounding the mans death but said it was a disturbing and confronting scene for those first to the scene.

“The victim will be having a post mortem conducted and from there we will hopefully be able to establish a cause of death,” he said.

“The squads priority is to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the mans death, and whether another person was involved.”

Det. Inspector Taylor said the man was known to police, but could not confirm if he possessed a criminal record.

He was unable to confirm if a weapon or weapons had been located.

“Police will look at all circumstances – at this point we have no suspects in custody,” he said.

“Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area around West Busselton around the time of the incident is urged to provide that footage to police.

“There is no credible information to suggest there is a threat to the safety of members of the public.”
