Even though the two were said to have dated, and parted ways, with Taylor Swift penning songs about him, John Mayer has shared his thoughts on his exs work.

While taking to the stage at an iHeartRadio concert held on Wednesday night in Burbank, California, the Your Body Is A Wonderland singer found himself caught up in an awkward moment on stage after making a small vocal faux pas.

During a question and answer session in between songs, John, 41, was speaking about his own reputation as he reportedly said: I was thinking about reputation…

Of course this was all a loyal Swifty needed to think he was referring to 28-year-old Taylors most recent album, with one fan in particular screaming in excitement, according to Us Weekly, at the mere mention of it from his lips.

John then quickly clarified: Not the album, but its fine. Its a fine piece of work.

That it is.

The talented two famously dated for a brief period between December 2009 and February 2010.

Eight months later, Taylor released the album Speak Now, which featured a track titled Dear John, that, while Taylor has never confirmed the subjects of any of her songs, led many to believe Mayer inspired the lyrics.

However, while John has penned many a personal tune of his own, he slammed Taylors song in a 2012 interview with Rolling Stone.

It made me feel terrible, because I didnt deserve it, he said. It was a really lousy thing to do. I never got an email. I never got a phone call. I was really caught off-guard.

He added in a harsh blow: Its cheap songwriting. Its abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, Wait till he gets a load of this! Thats bullshit. It really humiliated me.

While Taylor labelled his thoughts presumptuous as it was never confirmed he was the subject of the song, seems this exs feud is all but water under the bridge now.
