The Glamour Boys have not won a trophy in three years and endured a barren spell under previous mentor Steve Komphela during that period.

Chiefs have already lost out on winning silverware in one competition after failing to advance to the final in the MTN8, which was won by Cape Town City against SuperSport United.

Nonetheless, they have a chance to improve their fortunes under the Italian in the Telkom Knockout. Amakhosi are set to face Black Leopards in a round-of-16 tie at FNB Stadium on 21 October.

Speaking to reporters, Solinas said: "Kaizer Chiefs compete to try to win trophies. But competition is difficult here, it is very strong. It is not easy because the opponents are very good.

"We try to fight to win trophies because we are Kaizer Chiefs…Kaizer Chiefs compete to win trophies.

"We need the trophy for our fans, to make our fans happy. So, we are fighting and working hard to [achieve) that."

Chiefs are next in action on Sunday when they take on Bloemfontein Celtic in the annual friendly match in the form of the Macufe Cup.
