Lil Wayne has double reason to celebrate today.

The Young Money rapper is not only celebrating his 36th birthday, but has also released his long-awaited album Tha Carter V. Even better, Lil Wayne has received the full support of his former labelmates, Drake and Nicki Minaj, who promoted the album on their social media channels.

Alongside a photo of the album cover, Drake, 31, wrote on Instagram: C5 OUT NOW…happy birthday broski love forever.

Nicki, 35, was particularly emotional in her post, telling the rapper: Happy Birthday, King Tunechi. Love you more than words could ever express. Thank you for believing in me; Ill never stop believing in you. You are the best to ever do it. #YoungMoney 4 L I F E #TheCarter5 TONIGHT @liltunechi.

Although Drake doesnt appear on Tha Carter V, Nicki makes a guest appearance on album track Dark Side of the Moon. The rest of the album is quite a star-studded affair as other stars with collaborations on the record, include Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg and Ashanti.

Perhaps the most notable collaboration is that between Lil Wayne and late rapper XXXTentacion, who died in June at the age of 20 after being shot and robbed outside a car dealership in Florida. The track is ironically titled Dont Cry.

The songs lyrics are particularly poignant, with Lil Wayne rapping: I see death around the corner / And the U-turn signs lookin like a smile.

XXX Tentacion, real name Jahseh Onfroy, appears on the hook and sings: Dont cry, dont go / Wont lie I fuckin love you, triple extension on my motherfuckin afterlife.

The album also features guest appearances from Lil Waynes daughter, Reginae Carter, and his ex-girlfriend Nivea, with whom he shares seven-year-old son, Neal.

News of Tha Carter Vs release came as a surprise for fans this week, with the rapper announcing on Twitter: With this album, Im giving you more than me. This is years of work… that youll be listening to. I hope you enjoy it, you dont have to love it, you dont have to like it, but I hope you enjoy it.

Fans have waited seven years for the follow-up to Tha Carter IV, which was released in 2011.

Tha Carter V arrived to much fanfare with Lil Wayne hosting a release party in Los Angeles on Thursday night, which was attended by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Chris Brown, Big Sean, Ray J, Rae Sremmurd and Ashanti.

If Stevie Wonder turns up, then you know its a celebration. Surely the legend sang his version of Happy Birthday?
