Chippa United made a bright start, though, and Lentjies was presented with a chance in the 12th minute after being played into space behind the home defence, but he was unable to beat Ronwen Williams.
SuperSport United went up the other end of the pitch and nearly scored themselves, with James Keene steering a header just wide of the target.
However, the home fans were celebrating the lead soon afterwards as Aubrey Modiba played in Mokoena to fire past Daniel Akpeyi on 16 minutes.
The visitors were back in the contest 11 minutes later, though, when Lentjies latched onto a pass from Mark Mayambela and slotted past Williams to equalise.
But Chippa switched off at a crucial stage to allow Matsatsantsa to reclaim the lead on 42 minutes. Rusike did well to turn his marker and get off a shot that was blocked, but he reacted quickly to score on the rebound.
Kaitano Tembo troops controlled the tempo of the game in the second half and came closest to finding the back of the net.
Modiba forced Akpeyi into a fine save on 76 minutes, while Dean Furman failed to keep his shot down in the closing stages. There were no scares for the Tshwane outfit in the final minutes as they moved up to third in the table
