Ty has had a turbulent time lately, after coming out as gay and ending his secret relationship with Raffy. Now hes got to deal with the fact his mum has been in touch, and she wants to see him.
Taking it upon herself to see if Jodi deserves access to Ty, Marilyn travels to meet her foster sons mother, and hears her out. Jodi explains how Tys grandparents wouldnt let her have access to him after she generated the means to look after him, saying they would provide better care than her.
Her emotional story and tears convince Marilyn that Jodi is genuine, and despite Johns anger due to her going behind his back, she heads back to the Bay with no regrets.
Later on, Ty is left stunned when he heads down to the beach with Raffy and runs into his mother, who has come looking for him. After fleeing, Marilyn convinces him to hear her out, and he agrees to spend some time with her.
Although mother and son end up bonding and having a nice time together, Jodi gets a call from work and says shell have to leave earlier than planned. Ty secretly frets that she wont come back, and confides in John.

Once Jodi gets wind of his concerns, she reassures him that she is coming back – whats more, she wants him to come and live with her.
The announcement shocks John, Marilyn and Raffy, who are confronted with the possibility of Ty leaving them. And after having some time to weigh up the decision, Ty decides its time for him to go….
