In tonights Holby City, Essie finds herself torn between trying to help her friends very ill son and doing whats ethically right. When Gaskell proposes treatment that will give Josh hope, Essie is all for it – but the more she finds out, the more worried she becomes.

Elsewhere, Donnas cosmetic procedures sideline isnt going as well as shed hoped. She worries that she isnt cut out to be an entrepreneur, and it seems that Zav isnt taking their business as seriously as he should either. And Meena ends up working on AAU when Professor Gaskell makes it clear he doesnt want her anywhere near his trial. Can her day get any worse? Here are some spoilers to look out for:

1 – After last weeks major disagreement about how to treat Jac, Roxanna is no longer involved in Professor Gaskells project. Still deeply concerned about Gaskells actions, Roxanna asks Meena to keep an eye on him.

2 – Donnas former head teacher is a patient in AAU. Ursula Stork is just as scary as when Donna was a teenager and she remembers Donnas bad girl days well. It turns out that both former teacher and former pupil still have something to learn from each other.

3 – Joshs case has become very personal for Essie and she wants to do everything she can to give him a chance of a healthy life. When Professor Gaskell decides he cant operate on him, Josh is devastated. Gaskell comes up with a different approach to the treatment which might work – but there are no guarantees and it would be completely outside the rules of medical ethics. With Joshs condition worsening, can Essie put her doubts aside and support the new treatment plan, or has the Professor gone too far this time?

4 – There seems to be a spark between Donna and Zav – but is there really an attraction, or are they just business partners?

5 – Someone is in need of a Sacha hug.

6 – Meena is sent to work on AAU when Gaskell tells her she isnt welcome anywhere near his project – or neurosurgery generally. Already feeling demoralised, the last thing she needs is to be working on the same ward as her ex-boyfriend and dealing with the special (messy) challenges that AAU is famous for.

7- Roxanna becomes increasingly worried that Gaskell is playing God and, with Hanssens support, resolves to get to the bottom of exactly what hes been hiding concerning his trial.

Sue Haasler is the author of the official Holby City book, which you can read about here. She also writes novels and theres more about her latest here.
