Johnny and Jenny Connor are about to reveal a brand new era for Coronation Street as they open the doors to the Rovers following their plans to re-brand it – and the locals are in for a surprise as they worry about what could become of their beloved boozer.
As Jenny and Johnny plan a big party to officially welcome in the next age of the Rovers, the community begins to get unsettled as its clear that Jenny has ideas to give the place a complete makeover and turn it into a gastro pub.
As the ambitious pair admire their names over the door, Michelle is concerned about their plans as, knowing what its like to run the place, she worries that it wont go down very well with the loyal customers who wont like change. Not to mention the rivalry it would bring for the bistro she and Robert Preston run.

Sure enough, word spreads that Jenny and Johnny are doing a big refurbishment to the age old pub and people are certainly nervous about what they are going to do with the place. Michelle, with the help of Robert, asks to see the plans but Jenny coyly tells them that they will have to wait until the opening night party.
As the big day dawns, the doors open and the customers pile in – but what will they find has happened to the Rovers? And have Jenny and Johnny risked their customer base by changing it beyond all recognition?
Whatever happens, they soon have more to worry about when Henry Newton injures himself in the cellar and, with Cressidas family hounding him for £20k towards the cancelled wedding, he announces that he plans to sue the new landlords.
Talk about a dramatic start to their tenure!
