No frills approach to gardening leads to success
Margaret River mum and businesswoman Tini Quinlans passion for healthy, chemical-free home gardening has made her a national finalist in the 2018 AusMumpreneur Awards.
The co-founder and owner of No Frills Fertilisers (with organic agronomist husband Anthony Quinlan), Tini said she was thrilled to be nominated in the Sustainability category for her stand-out efforts in helping create a sustainable environment for future generations.
Presented by The AusMumpreneur Network, the awards recognise Australian Mums for achieving outstanding success in balancing motherhood and business in a way that suits their family lives.
“When we were unable to find good organic solutions for growing our own food, we started making our own,” Tini said.
“The real crunch came when my doctor congratulated me on falling pregnant with my first child, Lochie, then gave me a list of supplements I needed to buy.
“I knew our organic garden and home-made fertilisers were already providing those essential minerals and nutrients.
This revelation gave birth to the Quinlan familys home garden range, No Frills Fertilisers.
“I gave my husband the brief for a premium organic range for the home gardener: the product had to be simple, honest and time-efficient.” she said.
The product range has since expanded into commercial and horticultural sectors.
“Success has come after many years of hard work, challenges and learning on both the home and business fronts.
“If you follow your passion and arent afraid to get your hands dirty, you can push the limits even in tough times.”
Tini and Anthony involve their children Lochie, now 12, and Lexie, 10, in aspects of the business and believe the secret to home/work balance lies in shared family values.
“We practice open and honest communication, do what we say we are going to do and focus on results,” she said.
Winners of this years awards will be announced in Melbourne on August 31.
