WINTER made a freezing return across the region on Sunday with icy temperatures bringing a blanket of snow to many areas.

Up to 10 centimetres of snow was recorded in high areas around Orange and Oberon with temperatures hovering just above zero until well after 9am for some areas.

Orange dropped to a low of 0.3 degrees on Sunday morning, Forbes was a little warmer at 2.1 degrees, Dubbo and Parkes had a minimum of 2.7 degrees, while Bathurst dropped to three, Cowra (4.1) and Mudgee (4.7).

Readers across the region shared photos of snow and white scenes, with many taking the opportunity to show their children the winter wonderland.

The rest of the week is set to remain cool across the region, with many locations to have cold mornings followed by sunny days.
