South Korea-based hip-hop star Jay Park has dropped his long-awaited new track Soju.

Kicking off his new deal with Jay-Zs entertainment company RocNation, the track is a woozy, trap-flavoured club anthem featuring a stellar cameo from US rapper 2 Chainz.

Its Parks first record of 2018 and showcases his impressive vocal ability and slow-burning style.

When the Seattle native signed to RocNation in summer 2017, it marked an opportunity for the Korean-American rapper to establish a mainstream fan base in the States. Soju is the next phase of that project.

I have a lot of people on my shoulders in terms of, theres very few Asian Americans doing it in hip-hop right now in the States, Park told Complex in a new interview.

Im representing for them, representing for Seattle, for Korea.

He added: I just felt like it came to a point in my career where I plateaued [in Korea], just in terms of me being an artist and career-wise as well.

I felt like, I need to do English music; I speak better English than I do Korean. I think the fans enjoy it as well, so lets start making music in English.

2 Chainz, whose guest verse is a track highlight, recently followed in the footsteps of Donald Trump when he appeared to propose to his wife, Kesha Ward, at this years Met Gala.

The couple are actually already married, but Tauheed Epps (aka 2 Chainz) still dropped to one knee and asked for his wifes hand in marriage for the second time.

More: Jay Z

Elsewhere, Jay-Z has been making headlines for a variety of reasons this month.

First, he signed up for a new documentary series about rapper Meek Mill.

Then Rita Ora claimed his record label Roc Nation discriminated against her because she was a woman. Ora had previously been on the outfits books back in 2016.

Finally, Hova aired his beliefs that streaming rivals are out to get him because Beyonce exclusively licensed her music to his streaming platform Tidal.

Its been a busy month for Jay-Z, but hopefully Parks latest banger will be the start of something slightly less scandalous for the musician and entrepreneur.
