The Margaret River Hawks Cricket Club had a massive resurgence in 2017/18 and this was greatly aided by the youth of the club pushing through the ranks over the last few years.

The club hosted their annual awards night recently, where Office Cleaning Experts (OCE) South West awarded young player Kade Dittmar with the Hawks Junior Award for the season.

OCE director Oliver Sellers and wife Lavinia presented the award to Dittmar, praising the clubs strong following and dedicated members.

“The Hawks are a club with an extremely strong heartbeat, one you can really feel when you walk into the room,” Mr Sellers said.

OCEs award was the largest cash prize for the year and also included funds to assist with Dittmars training, travel and equipment.

Mum Keryn and dad Mark said the award would help with costs associated with their sons training in Margaret River, Busselton, Bunbury and Perth and age group representative cricket played all over the state.

“This award will help enormously with the ability to get Kade to the training sessions he needs to get to, and also to assist in his growth as a cricketer,” Keryn Dittmar said. .

With football and cricket commitments taking up the entire year, thousands of kilometres are driven by the family each year.

Standing tall at 6ft 1in at just 15 years of age and still growing, Dittmar goes through clothing and shoes quickly, and the award will see him kitted out in all new training and playing gear as well as a new pair of spikes for next season.

Dittmar also receive 1-on-1 coaching throughout the season on top of his junior and senior commitments, and received a $500 cash prize that can be used at his discretion.

A club spokesperson said the support from the local cleaning business allowed upgrades and maintenance of important facilities.

“OCE havent just sponsored the junior award for the Hawks, but sponsored the club as a whole and were one of the companies that pledged funds to the cricket nets and storage shed project that was 10 years in the making.

“The Hawks can now boast the newest and best training facilities in the AMR Shire and we think we already boast the best sponsors going around.

“The Hawks thank OCE for their support of the local area and our juniors; the club will appreciate their support for many years to come.”
