It’s tricky to tell what a dress you order online will look like on you when you can only see it worn by super tall, super slim models.
To remedy that all-too-common issue, ASOS is planning to show outfits on different models with different body types.
Which means you’ll be able to see how the same dress sits on someone tall and slim and shorter, someone with bigger hips, and someone a little shorter.
That’s a pretty big deal – not just in terms of making shopping easier (and hopefully reducing how often we end up having to return things that looked loads better on the model) but for representation. It means a lot that major brands are hiring models that don’t fit one rigid norm.
The feature is only in action on selected items for now, so it won’t be available all over the site, but ASOS says they’re planning to roll out the feature across the website and app.
For now, though, you’ll spot certain items worn by one size 6 to 8 model, one 10 to 12 model, and one 14 to 6 model.

Here’s hoping that the brand plans to add even more variations in terms of size and body type.
Think about it – the more diverse the models, the more likely customers are to see clothes worn by someone similar to them.
‘We’re always testing new technology that can make our customers’ experience even better,’ ASOS tells Metro.co.uk.
