New York state sues The Weinstein Company, alleging it failed to protect employees from Harvey Weinstein
New York state will sue The Weinstein Company, alleging the studio failed to protect employees from owner and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Rose McGowan, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cara Delevingne are among the high-profile women who have made various claims of sexual harassment, assault, and rape by Weinstein towards them; Weinstein has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.
Most recently Uma Thurman, 47, came forward as a Weinstein accuser, claiming he’d assaulted her after they worked together on the 1994 film Pulp Fiction. She told the New York Times Weinstein tried to push her down and shove himself on top of her and attempted to expose himself.
The Met Police are currently investigating nine different accusations from women against Weinstein; officers in Los Angeles have also opened investigations into allegations made against the former studio head.

Weinstein’s former assistant is also reportedly seeking legal action against him, claiming she had to clean up the couch in his office after his ‘sexual encounters’.
According to the Hollywood Reporter Sandeep Rehal is suing the disgraced producer – as well as his brother Bob, The Weinstein Company and its head of HR Frank Gil for allegedly ‘being forced to work in a pervasive and severe sexually hostile environment’.
The producer has already spoken out against the claims, with a spokesperson saying he ‘categorically denies’ the allegations his former assistant has made against him. Sandeep began working for Weinstein in 2013 when she was 26 – with the documents saying she quit in 2015 after reaching ‘an emotional breaking point’.
