BBC Radio 1 has announced plans for its Biggest Weekend festival – and here’s how you can get tickets.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the last few hours and aren’t quite sure what Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend is, trust us – you’ll definitely want tickets. The line-up for the 2018 summer event is – in one word – epic.

The BBC announced the enormous initial line-up for the weekend festival – which is being dubbed ‘BBC’s replacement to Glastonbury‘, which is taking a break this year, today.

So, here’s everything you need to know…

When is it taking place?

Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend is taking place from Friday 25 May – Monday 28 May 2018.

The gigs will take place across four cities – Belfast, Coventry, Perth and Swansea – meaning you’ve got plenty of options when it comes to choosing a location.

Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Noel Gallagher and Courtney Barnet are some of the names to make the list who are set to play the several location across the May bank holiday weekend.

Taylor and Ed are set to play together in Swansea, while Noel will head up the gig in Perth. More names will be added to the line up over time which will hopefully see more women added to the list.

Tickets for the Swansea Biggest Weekend will go on sale on Monday 12 February at 7.45am on Ticketmaster.

Tickets for the events in Perth and Coventry will go on sale at 8:30am and tickets for the Belfast events will go on sale at 10am.

You’ll be able to get your hands on a ticket for £18 (plus a £4.50 booking fee) and tickets allow you into the festival for one day only – you’ll need one ticket for the Saturday and a separate ticket for the Sunday.

The initial bulk of tickets will be available for local residents only. The next batch of tickets are for those living in the surrounding area of each event, with the third batch being for everyone else.

Anything else?

Well, you might as well have a read of what Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw and Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans have got to say about the Biggest Weekend.

Nick Grimshaw, BBC Radio 1’s breakfast presenter said: ‘You know it’s the start of the summer when we put on a massive festival, and we’re bringing two of the biggest artists in the world to Swansea.

‘Taylor and Ed plus a whole massive line-up to be announced make The Biggest Weekend THE event of the year.’

Chris Evans, BBC Radio 2’s breakfast presenter said: ‘The Biggest Weekend is shaping up very nicely indeed. Can’t wait to find out who else is going to be performing.’
