Ariana Grande mentions a string of her exes in her new Im-single-and-independent-and-dont-need-no-partner anthem Thank You, Next.

But one of her former flames got more of a raw deal than the rest.

Ariana, 25, has apologised to her ex Ricky Alvarez for giving him the worst line in her new single.

The first verse of Thank You, Next references Ricky, Big Sean, Pete Davidson and Mac Miller, and hears Ariana sing: Thought Id end up with Sean/ But he wasnt a match/ Wrote some songs about Ricky/ Now I listen and laugh/ Even almost got married / And for Pete Im so thankful / Wish I could say thank you to Malcolm / Cause he was an angel.

Ricky – a former backing dancer of Aris who dating the popstar from April 2015 until July 2016 – shared an Instagram live stream of himself listening to the new song, and Ariana proved there was no bad blood by commenting on the stream.

She wrote: HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH IM SORRY U GOT THE WORST LINE. It was meant v lovingly (sic).

Ricky, 26, replied: Nothing but gratitude. Thank u, next. … (those songs are fire tho… youre welcome).

Ariana wrote Moonlight and True Love about Ricky, while Forever Boy is also believed to be about the dancer.

While Thank You, Next is all about Aris exes, the song is far from shady, with the singer thanking her former boyfriends for teaching her lessons in love, patience and pain.

And Big Sean and Ricky both got warning before it was released, with Ari confirming on Twitter: They heard it before it came out.

Thank You, Next was dropped a half hour before Saturday Night Live aired in the States – when Arianas recent ex-fiance Pete was expected to discuss their break-up in a skit.

However, the comedian simply praised his ex, saying: I know some of you are curious about the break up but the truth is its nobodys business and sometimes things just dont work out and thats okay.

Shes a wonderful, strong person and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world.

We reckon theres more than a few celeb couples that could take a leaf out of this pairs book.
