A group of boys from drought stricken towns across western NSW will soon be going on the trip of a lifetime to represent Australia The Central West Bulls under 12s is the representative side with the kids hailing from Dubbo, Bathurst, Orange, Wellington, Forbes, Mudgee, Canowindra and Wellington. The side was chosen from teams across the country to be Australia's only representative in the Under 12s division at the Kids Rugby World Festival in Japan. Coach Will Gaden said it was a great moment when the boys found out they were going overseas. "They were bouncing with excitement. There are some boys that have never been on an aeroplane and there are plenty of them that have never been overseas," he said. ALSO MAKING NEWS: One of the best things about the trip was not only the chance to experience another culture but an opportunity for team bonding, Mr Gaden said. "That's the great thing about Rugby Union it takes you all over Australia and all over the world. These boys are about to go on the trip of a lifetime and they will have these memories for ever," he said. "Plus meet new people from different back grounds, cultures and make new friends." With most of the boys coming from drought affected areas, Mr Gaden said the trip will also lift spirits. "These young boys have seen it firsthand. I think it's a great out for families to be able to get away and take their mind off the drought," he said. While the team are excited to represent their country, disappointment came into the squad when they realised just 16 of the 23 players could go. "The Kids Rugby World Festival 2019 is a 10 a side comp; 10 players and 6 reserves," Mr Gaden explained. "The selectors straight away had to pick 16 players out of 23 to go to Japan which meant seven players were going to be very disappointed." But the team have gotten on with it and have continued training as a 23 man squad. "Because at the end of the day we are getting ready for The Country Championships in May at Tamworth and State Championships in Camden in June," Mr Gaden said. ALSO MAKING NEWS: Mr Gaden said the upcoming trip wouldn't be possible without the team's five sponsors who have been so generous in helping pay for the playing jerseys, training shirts, shorts and socks. Their major sponsor is Fletcher International Exports whose logo has gone on the front of the playing jersey and training shirts. Chesterfield Dubbo are on the shorts, while Dubbo City and Gilgandra Toyota are on the back of the Jerseys and on the sleeves are Tyrepower Mudgee and Central West Brakes in Orange. "We are so thankful and appreciative of these business for sponsoring our team. It's also nice that they are from different towns within our playing area," Mr Gaden said.
